The Archdiocese of Chicago has adopted Aspire, a standardized assessment derived from the national, college-bound ACT test, to help gauge students’ progress toward college and career readiness.
Grades 3 through 8 take Aspire testing. It focuses on the areas of English, math, reading, science and writing. The results offer teachers a better understanding of student growth and risk, and also provide schools the information necessary for earlier intervention. Our students score well above national and Archdiocesan averages on all achievement tests required by the Archdiocese of Chicago. It is one of the tools we use in the greater academic picture for students of St. A’s.
Aspire testing takes place in April, with formative assessments given throughout the year to measure progress and inform instruction. It is given online, with a paper-based option.
Formal parent-teacher conferences occur every November. Additional meetings may be requested by staff or parents as needed to support a student’s individual needs and achievement.
