Enrichment Programs

At St. Athanasius, co-curriculars encourage students to lead, expand their interests, volunteer, and have memorable experiences. Options before, during and after school accommodate the varied schedules and lives of our families.

  • St. A's Green Team - Mondays, 3:30-4:00pm
  • Mandarin Club - Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm
  • Irish Dance - Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm
  • Chess Club - Competitive Chess League - Mondays, 3:30-4:30pm
  • Choir - Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30am + Wednesday mass and some weekends
  • Altar Servers - Wednesday School Mass & Weekend Mass Service
  • Band - Performing Arts
  • Boy Scouts - Community & Service
  • Brownies/Girl Scouts - Community & Service
  • Eighth Grade Play - Scriptwriting & Performance
  • Illinois State Science Fair - 7th & 8th Grade - Invention & Competition
  • Private Music Lessons / Strings Institute (Performing Arts) - Individual/group times
  • Student Council - Community & Leadership

School Trips

Taking advantage of excursions in and around Chicago exposes students to animals and nature, team-building and cultural day trips. With an emphasis on two foreign language experiences, St. Athanasius also organizes overseas-trips in junior high. Examples include:

  • Kindergarten: Wagner Farm — Barn Day with Animals
  • Units A & B: Didier Farm — Pumpkins & Hayride; Museum of Science and Industry; Shedd Aquarium
  • Unit C: Camp Timber-lee Overnight (Grade 5) — Team-Building & Outdoor Education
  • Unit D: French Trip to Paris (Grades 7-8) — 10 Days of French Culture & Adventure; Spanish Trip to Barcelona & Toledo (Grades 7-8) — 10 Days of Spanish Culture & Adventure
