Admission Process

Girls on Playground 950x350

Application Deadline — Please submit an application by February 10th, for first-round consideration. While we encourage early consideration, we accept applicants year-round.

Admission Policies

St. Athanasius welcomes all applicants. Students must be four years old by September 1 for preschool (junior kindergarten), and five years old by September 1 to enter kindergarten their starting year.

The Principal meets with all prospective new families.

Meeting with Principal Carol McClay provides the family an opportunity to discuss their needs; it also helps our staff gain a better understanding of the students entering the school. Please schedule an appointment through Judy Berg, Communications Coordinator, at (847) 864-2650. School Tours and Shadow Visits are also available. Visit Us >

Applications accepted throughout the year.

While we encourage early consideration, we accept applications year round. Forms are available from the school’s Communications Coordinator, Judy Berg, or online. There is no application fee for new students. Please submit an application by February 10, 2017 for first round consideration. A Release of Records is required with your submission.

Admission for those who submit after February 10 will be on a first-come, first-served basis. St. Athanasius School gives admission preference in the following order: Siblings of current students, Catholic students that are St. Athanasius parishioners, Catholic students from other parishes, Non-Catholic students. Application Forms >

Financial Aid Application and verifying documents are due Friday, March 17, 2017.

Requests for financial aid information can be made with your application. Decisions are made in April. Apply for Aid >

Transfer Students

Please bring a copy of your child’s transcript or most recent report card to the meeting with the principal. Reviewing your student’s previous academic record helps determine appropriate placement at St. Athanasius. Reading and math levels for students entering Units B, C, and D (grades 3-8) will be assessed before an admissions decision is made. Contact will be made with the student’s school when appropriate.

Notification of Admission Status

A letter postmarked Tuesday, February 28, 2017 will inform families of admission status. If a place in class cannot be guaranteed at this time, parents can request placing the child’s name on the wait list. Changes frequently occur during the spring and summer that make space available in a class.
